Daily curriculum
Ages 15 months to 60 months.
A warm, predictable routine for toddlers through preschool. Free play, guided learning, outdoor time, meals, and rest. The day stays flexible for each child’s interests, energy, and stage.
Strict Fraser Health guidelines followed. Day Care Express is a licensed family child care program that adheres to Fraser Health Authority requirements for health, safety, hygiene, nutrition, supervision, staff qualifications, and programming. Our environment is regularly inspected.
Arrival, welcome & free play
Warm greeting and health check. Hand hygiene upon arrival. Children settle in with free-choice activities including blocks, books, soft toys, and simple sensory bins.
Morning circle time
Songs, finger plays, short stories, and simple language activities. We practice greetings, name recognition, and basic concepts (colors, shapes, weather) in a short, engaging group time.
Learning centers & structured play
Rotating centers focused on fine motor skills, art (painting, playdough, crayons), dramatic play, puzzles, and music. Small-group or individual activities that encourage curiosity and early problem-solving.
Morning snack
Handwashing followed by snack time. Parents provide all snacks. Children practice self-feeding skills and social interaction in a calm setting.
Outdoor play / gross motor
Fresh air and active play in our safe outdoor space (or indoor gross motor alternative if weather is poor). Running, climbing, balls, push toys, and nature exploration support physical development and energy release.
Transition & lunch preparation
Gentle 15-minute transition indoors. Diapering/potty, thorough handwashing, and quiet table activities while lunch is prepared.
Lunch
Lunch time with opportunities for conversation and practicing table manners. Parents provide all meals. We support healthy eating habits and social skills.
Story time & wind down
Quiet stories, soft music, and cuddles to help children transition into rest time.
Nap / rest time
Calm, dim environment with individual cots or mats. Soft music and gentle support. Children rest or sleep according to their needs; early risers have quiet books.
Wake up, hygiene & afternoon snack
Gentle wake-up, diapering/potty, handwashing, and afternoon snack. Parents provide all snacks.
Afternoon activities & free play
Music and movement, sensory exploration, art, or outdoor play (weather permitting). Focus on creativity, language, and social interaction.
Quiet play, centers & departure
Free choice of quiet activities (books, puzzles, soft toys). Parents are welcomed with a brief update on the child’s day. Hand hygiene at departure.
Daily learning
Language & literacy. Songs, stories, naming, conversation, and early book awareness.
Social-emotional. Sharing, turn-taking, expressing feelings, and building relationships.
Physical. Running, climbing, balancing, stacking, scribbling, and playdough.
Cognitive. Puzzles, blocks, cause-and-effect, and simple sorting.
Creative arts. Painting, music, movement, and dramatic play.
Self-help. Handwashing, feeding, and beginning potty awareness.
Age adaptations
15–24 months. Shorter group times, more sensory and parallel play, simpler songs, and closer adult support.
2–3 years. Emerging language, simple turn-taking, art with larger tools, and active outdoor play.
3–5 years. Longer circle time, cooperative play, early literacy and numeracy, and more independence.
Everyone follows the same daily rhythm, with support and materials matched to their level.
